Frequently asked questions
Everything families ask us before their first mash.
How does the Recycle Masher Dough Machine actually work?
Feed clean, dry recycled paper — junk mail, cereal boxes, packaging — into the machine along with a splash of Dough Slime. The machine mashes the paper down into a smooth, moldable dough that can be colored and shaped in the included forms.
Do I need to buy Dough Slime separately?
Yes. The $80 kit includes the machine, shaping forms, and packaging boxes, but it needs Dough Slime to turn paper into dough. Dough Slime is sold separately for $10 a bottle, and one bottle covers multiple mashing sessions.
What ages is this designed for?
Recycle Mashup is designed for kids ages 6 to 11. Younger kids in that range should have an adult nearby for setup and for feeding paper into the machine.
What kind of paper can I use?
Clean, dry paper and paper packaging work best — junk mail, cereal and cracker boxes, cardboard, and similar paper products. Wet, greasy, or heavily laminated paper should be avoided.
Can the dough be reused if a creation does not turn out?
Yes. Dough that dries out or does not turn out as planned can be mashed again with a fresh splash of Dough Slime, so one kit supports many rounds of creating.
What comes in the $80 kit?
The kit includes the Recycle Masher Dough Machine, several shaping forms for molding dough into different creations, and foldable boxes for packaging finished pieces to give away or sell.
